This recording was made in 1980 at a church Christmas program. Mary was holding her nine-day-old son, Kristopher. She was first privileged to perform this song in the early 1970s before it was even
published and has been invited to sing it many times since, so she almost feels like it is her song. The music was written by Wanda West Palmer and the words by Bertha Kleinman.
Lowell Hicks had a radio show on KSL radio years ago where he played requests. If you lived in Utah in the 1950s, 60s, 70s and 80s, you may remember him. This song, I Am a Child of God, was recorded
in Mesa, AZ in the early 1980s while Lowell Hicks was visiting friends.
This song was recorded at the Arizona Temple Visitor Center during the 1982 Christmas Concert series where Stephen Phelps and his family members performed.
The video may be lacking in image quality, but the music is so moving it gives me chills every time I hear it.
Denis Sorenson was the Tenor in the "3Ds" a popular singing group of the 60's. He was so impressed by The Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi, that he put the words to music. This was
performed at a concert commemorating their 25th aniversary. More can be learned about the 3Ds on the Phoenix Records website: phoenixrecords.org
