"Yesterday, President Hinckley announced that we just passed 13 million members of the Church. So this is a wonderful celebration time, June 2007," says Elder M. Russell Ballard.In some areas of the world where the Church is still new, membership is growing rapidly. The countries of highest percentage growth are mainly in Africa and Asia. The highest number of newly baptized members continues to come from countries where the Church has been established for many years, mainly North and South America and the Phillipines."There are now more members of the Church living outside of the United States and Canada, than there are within the confines of the United States and Canada."In the last few years, President Hinckley has often commented on the strength of the Church.
